UAE Cracks Down on Private Companies Violating Emiratisation Policies

The UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) announced on Wednesday that 1,934 private companies have been found violating Emiratisation policies between mid-2022 and November 19, 2024. These companies were found to have hired 3,035 UAE nationals through fraudulent practices aimed at meeting Emiratisation targets, including engaging in fake Emiratisation efforts.

In contrast, over 22,000 private companies have successfully hired Emiratis in line with the country’s Emiratisation regulations during the same period.

The Ministry emphasized that any attempts to bypass Emiratisation obligations would face strict penalties, with fines ranging from Dh20,000 to Dh500,000. In severe cases, companies may be referred to the Public Prosecution. The violators will also be downgraded in the MOHRE’s system, and they must meet the real Emiratisation targets moving forward. In addition, penalties will be imposed on individuals involved, including suspending access to Nafis benefits and recovering previous financial assistance.

As the deadline for meeting Emiratisation targets approaches, the Ministry urged private sector companies to ensure compliance by the end of December 2024, warning of substantial fines starting from January 1, 2025. The Ministry also encourages the public to report any violations of Emiratisation policies via its call center, smart app, or website.
