Future Falcons Activation Inspires Young Golfers at Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship
This week at the prestigious Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship at Yas Links, the Emirates Golf Federation (EGF) is taking its commitment to growing the game of golf to new heights with the Future Falcons activation. Running from Thursday, November 7th, to Sunday, November 10th, the initiative aims to inspire the next generation of golfers and ignite a love for the sport among young people in the UAE.
Creating Opportunities for Young Golfers
The Future Falcons activation is designed to give students a unique and hands-on experience of the world of professional golf. The initiative includes school visits on the first two days of the tournament, where students have the chance to engage with the sport, learn about the game, and enjoy a behind-the-scenes tour of the event, gaining an exclusive look at what happens beyond the course.
Through these visits, the EGF is offering young participants the rare opportunity to connect with the tournament, interact with golfers, and experience the excitement of a major international golf competition up close.
Partnership with Viya Golf and Marc Arnold
The Future Falcons program is being brought to life in partnership with Viya Golf and Marc Arnold, the Director of Instruction at Viya Golf. This collaboration underscores the importance of joint efforts to grow the game of golf in the UAE. By working together, the EGF, Viya Golf, and other partners are paving the way for a new generation of golfers to emerge from the UAE.
Daniel Griffiths, Director of Sports & Trips Coordinator at Al Rabeeh Academy in Abu Dhabi, shared his enthusiasm about the program. “This is our third visit to the tournament over the last few years, and it’s fantastic for the students to witness international golf with some of the best players in the world,” said Griffiths. “Our school has been involved with Future Falcons for over two years, and it has been very successful for both the students and the school, helping to develop their life skills, education, and a deep connection to the sport.”
Engaging Challenges for Young Golfers
In addition to school visits and the behind-the-scenes tour, the Future Falcons activation features a series of fun and engaging challenges designed to test the skills of budding golfers. These include a Putting Challenge, Chipping Challenge, and Full Swing Challenge, which provide young participants with the opportunity to showcase their talents and further develop their golfing abilities in a fun, friendly environment.
Support from Key Partners
The Future Falcons initiative is supported by a range of key partners, including the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, HSBC, Viya Golf, Yas Links, Saadiyat Beach Golf Club, Yas Acres Golf & Country Club, and Abu Dhabi Golf Club. These organizations are helping to make the event a reality and ensure that young golfers in the UAE have access to the best resources and opportunities to grow their skills.
As part of The R&A’s Unleash Your Drive in Schools program, which is facilitated by the EGF, the activation also includes the use of Golfway equipment. This specialized gear is designed to introduce beginners to the game, offering a short-form, beginner-friendly format to ensure that students of all skill levels can enjoy the experience.
Expanding Golf’s Reach in the UAE
With over 150 students, including boys and girls from Abu Dhabi, expected to participate in the Future Falcons activation this week, the initiative is helping to bring golf to a broader audience and inspire more young people to pick up the sport. The EGF’s ongoing efforts to grow golf in the UAE are central to the country’s long-term goal of fostering a thriving sports community and producing future champions in the game.
