Dubai will light up the night sky on December 13 with a unique spectacle featuring drones, fireworks, and skydivers. Organisers have confirmed that 150 pyro drones will take off over Bluewaters and The Beach, JBR, at 8pm and 10pm, creating a breathtaking show that combines state-of-the-art drone technology with pyrotechnics and thrilling skydiving stunts.
Kaltham Al Shamsi, Assistant Manager of Events Planning at Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRA), highlighted that this show is part of the Dubai Shopping Festival’s 30th anniversary celebrations. “The pyro drones merge pyrotechnics with advanced drone technology for two spectacular performances,” Al Shamsi said.
Marco Niedermeier, CEO and producer of AO Multimedia and Drones, shared details of the collaboration with Skydive Dubai. “The drones will light up the sky with fireworks while elite skydivers leap from 10,000 feet, performing stunts and ‘dancing’ in the air with lights and pyrotechnics on their suits,” he explained. The skydivers, among the world’s most experienced, will manually control their pyrotechnics during the performance.
The show has been choreographed by Jan Ising, a German art director based in Dubai, with the help of a multimedia team that includes 3D animation specialists. The drones are equipped with advanced micro-engines and innovative software, enabling them to perform intricate light effects and 3D animations, and even carry firework effects that are fully integrated with the show.
In addition to the pyro drone spectacle, the regular Dubai Shopping Festival drone shows, which started on December 6, will continue through January 12. These shows, held twice daily at 8pm and 10pm, feature over 1,000 drones and are designed to offer a sensory experience with innovative storytelling and cutting-edge technology.
