H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council, warmly welcomed the UAE national winter sports teams in a special reception following the recent historic victory of the men’s ice hockey team at the 2023 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship Division II-B, held in Türkiye.
Sheikh Khaled personally congratulated the men’s national ice hockey team on their remarkable achievement and emphasized the pride it brings to the UAE as they represent the nation on the global stage.
During the meeting, His Highness praised the athletes’ outstanding performance and technical prowess, which played a significant role in securing this unprecedented triumph for the UAE in the sport. He highlighted how their success serves as an inspiration to a new generation of aspiring national athletes.
Acknowledging the instrumental role of the UAE Winter Sports Federation, His Highness lauded their efforts in creating opportunities and pathways for sporting talent in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Ice Sports Club.
Dr. Ahmed Mubarak Al Mazrouei, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Office and President of the UAE Winter Sports Federation; Aref Hamad Al Awani, Secretary-General of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council; and Hamel Ahmed Al Qubaisi, Vice President of the UAE Winter Sports Federation, along with other board members, staff, and athletes from the federation were present at the meeting.
