In 2024, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) has set new standards in delivering high-quality, innovative, and accessible digital services, aligning with the country’s visionary leadership and its commitment to ensuring the well-being of its citizens abroad.
Key achievements for the ministry include the implementation of advanced digital systems that have significantly improved responsiveness, resulting in a satisfaction rate exceeding 95%. Among the notable initiatives were campaigns promoting safe travel awareness, targeted support for Emirati pilgrims, and specialized assistance for elderly citizens traveling for medical treatment. In recognition of the International Day of Older Persons, MOFA organized visits to overseas patients to ensure their health and well-being.
A major highlight of MOFA’s digital initiatives in 2024 was the launch of the “Smart Mission” project in the Republic of Korea in May. This digital-first consular service, powered by artificial intelligence and facial recognition, streamlined government processes, offering fast and efficient services to citizens. The Smart Mission exemplifies the UAE’s ongoing digital transformation and supports its ambitious “Impossible is Possible” vision.
MOFA’s enhanced emergency response capabilities were also a significant achievement, handling over 16,000 calls through its 24/7 hotline. The ministry resolved 91% of cases within 30 seconds and introduced an automatic callback technology, ensuring timely assistance. Additionally, 1,239 electronic return documents were issued within 30 minutes, following optimized procedures.
Bushra Ahmed Al Matrooshi, Director of the UAE Nationals Affairs Department, reiterated MOFA’s unwavering commitment to prioritizing the welfare of its citizens abroad. She emphasized the ministry’s continuous efforts to ensure the safety and improve the quality of life for UAE nationals globally, through innovative solutions and 24/7 support.
