Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad bin Saif Al Sharqi, President of the Emirates Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation, has emphasized a significant transformation in sports within the Emirate of Fujairah. This shift, he stated, is a result of the directives from His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Fujairah, along with the consistent support and guidance from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah.
According to Sheikh Abdullah Al Sharqi, the Crown Prince’s unwavering support serves as the cornerstone for bolstering the sports movement in Fujairah, positioning the emirate as a global sports destination. He highlighted the Crown Prince’s continuous backing for various sporting events and tournaments, which has significantly enhanced Fujairah’s stature on the international sports map.
Speaking on the “Sports Tales” program aired on Fujairah Radio, Sheikh Abdullah proposed the establishment of Olympic schools as a fundamental solution to address the fluctuating performance levels in UAE football and other sports. He emphasized the need for an integrated model that combines education with sports, advocating for schools that nurture students from kindergarten and assess their athletic abilities based on physical structure.
Sheikh Abdullah suggested initiating three Olympic schools at the state level as a promising start, envisioning students prepared to excel in Olympic Games or pursue higher education with a strong foundation established at these institutions.
Furthermore, Sheikh Abdullah revealed the impending participation of Fujairah Sports Club in the amateur league, hinting at the vision and strategy outlined by Sheikh Maktoum bin Hamad Al Sharqi, the club’s president. He disclosed plans to restore the club’s professional status, emphasizing the need for a robust investment framework to support its development. Sheikh Abdullah emphasized that this investment base would instill confidence and pave the way for a prosperous future for the Fujairah Club.
