Tomorrow, on Monday, the National Olympic Team delegation is set to depart for the Saudi city of Al-Ahsa to gear up for the forthcoming West Asian Football Championship, scheduled to take place from March 20 to March 26.
The team kicked off its training regime yesterday, Saturday, under the guidance of Uruguayan coach Marcelo Broli and his assistant technical staff. The training camp, which commenced on Saturday and extends until today, Sunday, is being held at the Thiab Awana Stadium, situated at the headquarters of the Football Association in Dubai.
This camp is an integral part of the final preparations ahead of the tournament’s fifth edition, which caters to under-23 teams. Among the observers of the Olympic team’s training session were Obaid Salem Al Shamsi, Second Vice President of the Football Association, along with Hisham Mohammed Al Zarouni and Ibrahim Hassan Al Nimr, members of the Board of Directors.
The newly assembled technical staff took the opportunity to familiarize themselves with all the players before commencing training sessions. They emphasized the significance of participating in the championship, which serves as a preparatory platform for the upcoming Asian Cup finals slated for April in the Qatari capital, Doha.
A total of 26 players participated in the Olympic team’s training, including Rakan Walid, Mubarak Ahmed, and Ahmed Al-Hammadi from Al-Jazeera, among others from various clubs such as Shabab Al-Ahly, Al-Fujairah, and Al-Nasr.
