Dubai’s Al Mamzar Corniche Beach Development: A New Vision for Public Leisure

Dubai is set to unveil the Al Mamzar Corniche Beach, an ambitious project designed to cater to a diverse range of public leisure activities. Covering a vast area of 125,000 square meters with a width of 80 meters, the new beach will feature a dedicated public beach for women, complete with night swimming facilities, sports clubs, children’s play areas, and designated paths for walking, running, and cycling.

The first phase of the Al Mamzar Beach Development Project is nearly halfway complete, with the Dubai Municipality now awarding the contract for the second phase, which will focus on further enhancing the beachfront area along Al Mamzar Corniche. Both phases are slated for completion by the end of 2025, with an estimated investment of Dh400 million.

One of the standout features of this development is the innovative design that integrates running, walking, and cycling paths with Al Mamzar Creek Beach and Al Mamzar Park, making this the first such initiative in the region. These paths will be surrounded by expansive green spaces, designed to the highest standards of aesthetic landscaping, providing a seamless connection between the beach and the park areas.

The project will also offer a 5,000-square-meter area for seasonal events and activities, as well as a 2,000-square-meter skateboarding area. In line with Dubai’s ambition for smart infrastructure, the beach will incorporate advanced technologies, including AI-supported surveillance systems, drowning rescue technologies, crowd management tools, and smart luggage lockers.

Bader Anwahi, CEO of the Public Facilities Agency at Dubai Municipality, emphasized that this development is a reflection of Dubai’s commitment to building sustainable and innovative infrastructure. He also highlighted how it aligns with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 targets, strengthening Dubai’s position as a leader in various sectors.

The first phase, which began in June of the previous year, has already seen 45% completion. This phase covers 275,000 square meters and includes key features such as a 200-meter pedestrian pontoon bridge to connect the two banks of Al Mamzar Creek. The development will also offer a 300-meter night swimming beach that is accessible to people of determination, as well as a 5-kilometer walkway and dedicated running and cycling tracks along the beach, ensuring accessibility and convenience for all visitors.

With this project, Dubai is set to provide an innovative, inclusive, and sustainable public leisure space that combines modern technology with nature and recreation.
