Dubai Launches New Judicial Expertise Centre Under Sheikh Mohammed’s Decree

Dubai has taken another step in strengthening its legal and institutional framework after Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, issued a new law establishing the Dubai Centre for Judicial Expertise.

The centre will serve as a specialised body tasked with providing expert services to support the emirate’s courts, public prosecutors, and dispute resolution systems. It will also regulate and accredit independent experts across various fields, ensuring that judicial processes are supported by high-quality, impartial technical knowledge.

Raising Standards of Justice
The creation of the centre is part of Dubai’s wider strategy to reinforce the integrity, transparency, and efficiency of its judiciary. By offering accredited expertise in areas ranging from finance and real estate to medicine and engineering, the centre will help courts handle increasingly complex cases in a rapidly evolving economy.

“Judicial decisions depend not only on legal principles but also on accurate technical assessments,” one Dubai legal analyst explained. “This centre will institutionalise expertise, ensuring decisions are grounded in verified knowledge.”

Accreditation and Oversight
Under the new law, the centre will be responsible for setting professional standards for experts, maintaining a registry, and ensuring compliance with codes of conduct. It will also offer training and continuous development programmes to raise the quality of expert testimony.

The move comes amid Dubai’s efforts to align its legal framework with global best practices, enhancing its position as a leading hub for international business and arbitration.

Part of a Broader Vision
Sheikh Mohammed has long championed reforms aimed at modernising Dubai’s judicial system, which plays a central role in bolstering investor confidence and sustaining the emirate’s reputation as a secure place to do business.

Legal experts say the establishment of the Dubai Centre for Judicial Expertise reflects a forward-looking approach: embedding specialised knowledge into legal decision-making at a time when disputes often involve cross-border finance, emerging technologies, and high-value commercial contracts.

Enhancing Trust in the System
For businesses, residents, and international investors, the new centre is expected to provide greater assurance that disputes will be resolved fairly and efficiently.

“This is not just about improving the judiciary it’s about reinforcing trust in Dubai as a place where rights are protected and the rule of law is paramount,” said a UAE-based lawyer.
