Dubai Chamber Highlights D33 Agenda to Business Councils, Prepares for Trade Mission to Africa

The Dubai Chamber of Commerce (DCC), in collaboration with the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (Dubai DET), convened a roundtable session to present the strategic objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33) to Business Councils operating under its umbrella.

The session, held in Dubai, featured an in-depth presentation from Dubai DET, outlining D33’s ambitious goals to double the size of the emirate’s economy by 2033 and cement its position among the world’s top three economic cities. Officials emphasized the critical role of the private sector in achieving these targets and discussed how businesses can actively contribute to Dubai’s long-term economic vision.

“The Dubai Economic Agenda (D33) provides a comprehensive roadmap for sustainable growth and enhancing the competitiveness of the national economy, with the private sector playing a key role in achieving its ambitious targets,” said Maha Al Gargawi, Vice President of Business Advocacy at Dubai Chambers. “Business Councils serve as vital bridges to global markets and play an important role in strengthening trade and investment integration between Dubai and countries around the world.”

The Business Councils under DCC represent companies and investors from specific global markets operating in Dubai, with a focus on deepening bilateral trade and fostering strategic economic partnerships.

DCC Embarks on Trade Mission to Angola and Mozambique

In a parallel effort to expand Dubai’s global trade footprint, the Dubai Chamber of Commerce has launched a trade mission to Angola and Mozambique, running from April 21 to 25, under its flagship “New Horizons” initiative.

This initiative is part of the chamber’s wider strategy to support the international expansion of Dubai-based companies by facilitating access to high-growth markets. Delegates from a wide range of sectors—including agriculture, construction, energy, FMCG, IT, logistics, maritime, real estate, and manufacturing—are participating in the mission.

A virtual pre-mission briefing was held last week, offering an overview of the mission’s agenda, which includes bilateral business meetings, site visits, and networking opportunities with local companies in both Angola and Mozambique.

The mission underscores the DCC’s commitment to forging strong economic ties between Dubai and emerging African markets, aligning with the D33 agenda’s focus on diversifying trade routes and investment channels.

A Unified Strategy for Global Growth

The activities come amid broader institutional reforms at Dubai Chambers. In 2021, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, announced the restructuring of Dubai Chamber into three specialized arms: Dubai Chamber of Commerce, Dubai International Chamber, and Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy—all operating under the umbrella of Dubai Chambers, a non-profit public entity.

Through strategic programmes like D33 and New Horizons, the Dubai Chamber of Commerce continues to play a central role in positioning Dubai as a global trade and investment hub, while equipping its business community to thrive in a rapidly evolving global economy.
