The Council of Muslim Elders, led by His Eminence the Grand Imam Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, underscored the critical challenge of water scarcity facing humanity amid escalating climate change concerns.
Highlighting the significance of efficient and equitable water access, the Council commended the “Mohamed bin Zayed Water Initiative” for its efforts to tackle the pressing global issue of water scarcity and expedite innovative technological solutions in this domain.
Issuing a statement on World Water Day, observed annually on March 22, the Council emphasized the imperative for cooperation among nations, institutions, and individuals to support endeavors aimed at rationalizing water consumption and fostering a culture of responsible practices.
The Grand Imam hailed the UAE’s noble initiative to address this existential challenge, lauding its steadfast commitment to advancing comprehensive development worldwide and ensuring a dignified and sustainable livelihood for all.
Emphasizing water’s fundamental role as the cornerstone of life on Earth, he underscored its indispensability to ecosystems and economic sustainability. He noted that in Islam, water is revered as a source of life, thus advocating for its judicious consumption and discouraging excessive use.
