UAE Ambassador Hosts Interfaith Iftar Promoting Peaceful Coexistence

Her Excellency Hind Al Otaiba, UAE Ambassador to the French Republic, orchestrated an interfaith iftar themed “Values of Human Fraternity and Peaceful Coexistence,” gathering notable personalities such as Her Excellency Audrey Azoulay, Director-General of UNESCO, and His Excellency Jean-Yves Le Drian, Former French Foreign Minister, alongside numerous ambassadors and dignitaries from various sectors. The aim was to foster dialogue, understanding, and coexistence.

This year’s iftar took place at Bernardin College in Paris, a hub for interfaith dialogue dedicated to instilling hope amidst contemporary challenges. Symbolizing hospitality, openness, and tolerance, this historic venue reflects the values upon which Emirati society is built.

The event delivered a powerful message endorsing intercultural and interreligious dialogue while advocating for peaceful coexistence among nations. It was organized as part of the ninth edition of the “Majloon” initiative, a series of events launched by the UAE Embassy in Paris, gathering influential figures from both countries to discuss shared interests and bolster Emirati-French relations.

Her Excellency Al Otaiba remarked, “In light of societal challenges, upholding human brotherhood and fostering dialogue between religions and cultures promotes peace and stability, echoing the tolerance principles laid by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God have mercy on him. The UAE remains dedicated to fostering tolerance, understanding, and dialogue among diverse cultures and religions.”

Her Excellency Azoulay emphasized the significance of human fraternity values in advancing peaceful coexistence and bridging communication gaps among communities, sentiments echoed by Mr. Laurent Landet, General Director of Bernardin College. Her Excellency Audrey Azoulay praised the UAE’s efforts within UNESCO and the international community to promote peace through cultural, educational, scientific, and informational initiatives.
