On Saturday morning, a seismic event registering 6.1 on the Richter scale occurred off the eastern coast of Taiwan. Reports from various media sources cited the Central Meteorological Administration in Taiwan, attributing the quake as an aftershock stemming from the major Hualien earthquake that rocked the area on April 3, resulting in the loss of at least 18 lives.
According to the authorities, Taiwan has experienced a significant number of aftershocks since the Hualien earthquake, totaling 1,303 as of this morning. Among these aftershocks, six recorded an intensity of at least 6 degrees on the Richter scale, while 63 were between 5 and 6 degrees in intensity.
