On Monday, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, shared a heartfelt hand-written message to the people of the UAE, including both citizens and residents, in celebration of National Day. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Sheikh Mohamed expressed pride in the country’s achievements and its people, saying:
“To the people of the UAE, on the occasion of Eid Al Etihad, we take pride in the UAE and its people, both citizens and residents.”
The UAE’s National Day is now officially referred to as “Eid Al Etihad,” a name reflecting the theme of “union” and the unification of the Emirates on December 2, 1971. This name underscores the UAE’s identity, symbolizing unity, heritage, strength, and national pride.
Sheikh Mohamed’s message continued with a note of gratitude: “Thank you for your determination. Thank you for your efforts. Thank you for all that you do for this nation.”
The official National Day celebrations for 2024 will be held in Al Ain, a city deeply cherished by the UAE’s people, surrounded by stunning natural landscapes. The public will be able to watch the celebrations live on December 2, 2024, through local TV channels, cinemas, and selected public spaces.
