Today, the third ministerial meeting of the joint committee between the UAE and the Republic of Romania convened in the Romanian capital, Bucharest, at the Palace of the Romanian Parliament. The meeting was graced by the presence of His Excellency Marcel Ciulacu, Prime Minister of Romania, and Her Excellency Maryam bint Mohammed Al Muhairi, Head of the International Affairs Office, who led the UAE delegation. His Excellency Sorin Grindeanu, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, headed the Romanian side.
The Prime Minister of Romania warmly welcomed Her Excellency Maryam Al Muhairi and the accompanying delegation, commending the strong and growing relations between the UAE and Romania across various economic, trade, and investment sectors. He underscored the UAE’s significance as a major partner for Romania in the region, highlighting the mutual interest of both countries’ leadership in bolstering bilateral ties in recent years to serve the interests of their friendly peoples.
The meeting witnessed the attendance of His Excellency Sultan Mohammed Al Ali, UAE Ambassador to Romania, alongside senior officials from UAE government agencies, representatives from the private sector, business community, institutions, and companies from both nations.
Deliberations centered on enhancing cooperation in vital sectors crucial to both countries, with a particular focus on tourism, education, scientific research, health, industry, small and medium enterprises, renewable energy, civil aviation, agriculture, and food security.
The discussions also delved into investment cooperation and the myriad opportunities available in the Romanian market for financial funds, companies, institutions, and the Emirati business community. The Romanian government extended invitations to Emirati entities to invest in privatized companies and projects, presenting investment facilities and incentives.
Her Excellency Maryam Al Muhairi lauded the strength of bilateral relations and the depth of partnership between the UAE and Romania across various domains, echoing the forward-looking vision of the wise leadership built on trust and long-term cooperation foundations. She emphasized the importance of enhancing trade exchange and forging strong partnerships for mutual benefit, highlighting the wealth of investment opportunities, particularly in small and medium enterprises.
Furthermore, Al Muhairi reiterated the committee’s commitment to fostering meaningful partnerships and initiatives, aimed at overcoming challenges and translating outputs into tangible results for the benefit of both countries and their peoples.
The session concluded with the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry in the UAE and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Romania, witnessed by His Excellency Al Muhairi and His Excellency Sorin Grindeanu.
During a dinner hosted by His Excellency Ambassador Sultan Mohammed Al Ali at the UAE Embassy, Her Excellency Maryam Al Muhairi engaged with Emirati business owners and investors, discussing their current and future investment projects and opportunities.
