In celebration of the UAE’s 53rd National Day, Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al-Qasimi, the Ruler of Sharjah, has ordered the release of 683 prisoners. The decision, announced by Sharjah Police on Wednesday, applies to inmates serving time in penal and correctional facilities across the emirate, with the condition of their good behavior and conduct.
The release is aimed at bringing happiness and stability to the families of the prisoners, offering them a fresh start in life.
Earlier today, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed also ordered the release of 2,269 prisoners, covering all fines and penalties imposed on them. This comes as part of the country’s broader efforts to strengthen the rehabilitation and reintegration of prisoners into society, under a new Federal Decree-Law on penal institutions.
