The national cycling team has wrapped up its participation in the Asian Track Championship held in the Indian capital, New Delhi, featuring 16 teams from across Asia. The team secured notable achievements, with Mohammed Al-Mutaiwi winning the silver medal in the individual pursuit event.
Upon their return to the country via Dubai Airport on Tuesday, the team’s delegation was warmly received by Dr. Yasser Al-Dokhi, Secretary-General of the Cycling Federation, Engineer Kholoud Al-Dhaheri, member of the National Olympic Committee and Federation’s Board of Directors, and Hareb Al-Ali, member of the Federation’s Board of Directors.
The Asian Championship delegation comprised four players, with Zahra Hussein making her debut in endurance and aluminum races. Among the standout accomplishments was the national team breaking its previous record in the team pursuit race, securing fifth place at the Asian level and ranking first among Arab teams, clocking in at 4:11:2 minutes.
Ahmed Al Mansouri boosted his points tally by finishing fifth in the Omnium Race, contributing to his pursuit of qualifying points for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Abdullah Al Hammadi also clinched eighth place in the race, aiming to accumulate qualifying points for the prestigious event.
