The Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) and EDGE Group have introduced Tour 4.0, a new initiative aimed at accelerating digital transformation and encouraging the adoption of advanced technology within the industrial landscape of the UAE.
MoIAT and EDGE have also unveiled the latest installment in the Leadership 4.0 series, designed to empower industrial leaders in embracing 4IR solutions and sustainable practices across the UAE’s industrial sector.
Both the Leadership 4.0 and Tour 4.0 initiatives are part of the UAE’s Technology Transformation Programme (TTP), initiated in 2022 by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai. These initiatives align with the UAE Net Zero by 2050 Strategic Initiative, emphasizing the pivotal role of technology in industrial decarbonization.
Tour 4.0 and Leadership 4.0 follow CEO 4.0, Pioneers 4.0, and Talk 4.0, and are executed through a collaboration between MoIAT and EDGE within the Industry 4.0 Enablement Centre. The Enablement Centre’s mandate is to enhance industrial capabilities in the UAE with initiatives falling under four areas: learning, demonstration, implementation, and innovation, with the aim of promoting, enabling, and supporting the digital transformation and adoption of Industry 4.0 solutions across the country’s manufacturing sectors.
Tour 4.0 offers tours of cutting-edge smart factories to raise awareness, share knowledge, and promote best practices for adopting advanced technologies. Fifteen leaders from UAE-based manufacturing enterprises, along with representatives from MoIAT and EDGE, participated in the launch tour at Ittihad Paper Mill (IPM) in Abu Dhabi, one of the country’s most technologically advanced manufacturing plants. Participants learned about the company’s digital transformation journey and sustainability practices, such as wastewater treatment and carbon capture for the production of reusable calcium carbonate.
Tariq Al Hashmi, Director of Technology Adoption and Development at the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, emphasized the importance of technological transformation and the ministry’s commitment to raising awareness and providing solutions for the national industrial sector.
Ahmed Al Khoori, Senior Vice President – Strategy & Excellence at EDGE, highlighted the mission of EDGE to adopt advanced Industry 4.0 technologies, empower industrial leaders, and drive continuous improvement through initiatives like ‘Tour 4.0.’
The Leadership 4.0 program equips senior industrial sector executives and technical leaders with the knowledge and skills needed to enhance efficiency and productivity while focusing on sustainability and the adoption of 4IR solutions.
The program covers a wide range of topics, including lean management, agile methodologies, analytics, IoT, Six Sigma, and core components of Industry 4.0. Participants gain insights into adopting the right processes, methodologies, and technologies to enhance operations and foster a data-driven organizational culture. Fourteen industrial leaders from various organizations have participated in the course at the immersive EDGE Learning and Innovation Factory, contributing to sustainability and technological advancement in the UAE’s industrial landscape.
