Liwa Ajman Dates and Honey Festival Concludes Successfully, Promoting Cultural Heritage and Sustainable Tourism

The eighth edition of the Liwa Ajman Dates and Honey Festival concluded yesterday, achieving significant success in its mission to promote cultural heritage and sustainable tourism in the emirate of Ajman.

The festival, which commenced on 31st July at the Emirates Hospitality Centre in Ajman, was inaugurated by H.H. Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, the Crown Prince of Ajman and Chairman of Ajman Executive Council.

During the festival, Sheikh Ammar conducted an extensive tour of its diverse sections, gaining insights into the various cultural events and engaging activities that enriched the occasion.

At the heart of the festival were compelling competitions focused on accurately measuring diverse dates and honey varieties, as well as contests showcasing the finest local citrus fruits. The winners of all categories received prizes totaling AED 400,000. The festival also encouraged active audience participation, with AED 20,000 worth of vouchers distributed to contest participants throughout the four-day event. Each day concluded with lively auctions, adding to the festive atmosphere.

This year’s festival was further enriched by the inclusion of a virtual reality enclave, thoughtfully curated by the Ajman Department of Tourism Development (ADTD). This addition enhanced the engagement with local heritage and innovative agricultural practices. Workshops highlighting traditional crafts and artistry associated with the revered palm tree were also part of the festival’s diverse offerings. Captivating folklore performances entertained the audience throughout the four-day celebration.

The festival’s resounding success was made possible through the robust support of various sponsors and supporters, whose contributions played a pivotal role in realizing the festival’s objectives. By celebrating and showcasing the multifaceted cultural and agricultural legacy of Ajman, ADTD demonstrated its unwavering commitment to sustainability and the advancement of responsible tourism practices. The department remains dedicated to fostering enduring partnerships and collaborative ventures, with a focus on achieving even greater accomplishments in future festivals and events.
