His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler’s Representative in the Al Dhafra Region, visited the Liwa International Festival “Tel Mureb 2024,” the largest of its kind in the Middle East, held from December 8 to 31. The festival is organized by Liwa Sports Club in collaboration with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi.
Accompanied by dignitaries including Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Sheikh Zayed bin Hamad bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, and other officials, His Highness was briefed on the various sporting events, heritage activities, and entertainment programs featured in the festival.
The visit commenced with an inspection of the newly constructed road leading to the festival and additional parking facilities. Sheikh Hamdan then toured Liwa Village, experiencing artistic and cultural programs, retail outlets, family entertainment, and international culinary offerings. The village showcased Emirati culture, contemporary design, and handcrafted coffee outlets, while the dining area featured international culinary partners providing diverse dining experiences.
His Highness explored the Smart Farm, an initiative of the Year of Sustainability, highlighting advanced agricultural techniques through workshops and seminars. The tour also included visits to camps and the Liwa International Exhibition for Recreational Vehicles and Camping Trailers (RV), where exhibitors presented various camping and residential trailers.
Sheikh Hamdan emphasized that the Liwa International Festival is a continuation of the region’s success, gaining international recognition for hosting diverse sports tournaments, heritage activities, and automotive events. He lauded the festival’s status as a significant tourist landmark in Al Dhafra, attracting participants, professionals, and visitors.
HH Sheikh Hamdan commended the festival’s public attendance and organization, underscoring the importance of providing resources for its success. He called for overcoming obstacles faced by competition participants and appreciated the role of the Supreme Organizing Committee, sponsors, and partners in ensuring the event’s success and well-organized activities.
