Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor pulled off a stunning upset at the Dubai Tennis Championships, saving four match points to defeat top seed Daniil Medvedev 2-6, 7-6 (7), 7-5 in a thrilling quarterfinal on Thursday.

Despite Medvedev firing 15 aces, the defending champion couldn’t capitalize on his chances, converting only 3 of 14 break points, while Griekspoor held his nerve to take advantage of 2 of 7 opportunities.

With the victory, Griekspoor advances to his eighth career ATP Tour semifinal, where he will face fourth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas. The Greek star edged past Italy’s Matteo Berrettini in a tightly contested match, winning 7-6 (5), 1-6, 6-4.

The other semifinal will feature Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime against French qualifier Quentin Halys. Auger-Aliassime defeated Croatia’s Marin Cilic 6-4, 3-6, 6-2, while Halys survived a challenge from Italian lucky loser Luca Nardi, winning 2-6, 6-3, 7-6 (5).

U.S. qualifier Learner Tien couldn’t replicate his stunning win over top seed Alexander Zverev, as he fell to eighth-seeded Tomas Machac (Czech Republic) 6-3, 7-5 in the Abierto Mexicano Telcel quarterfinals in Acapulco.

Tien struggled with his serve, getting broken six times and winning just 54.9% of his first-serve points. Machac will now face Brandon Nakashima (USA), who overcame Belgium’s David Goffin 7-6 (4), 6-2.

The final two semifinal spots were set to be decided later Thursday night, with:
