Dubai has launched a new Dock & Dine initiative aimed at positioning the emirate as a global hub for yacht tourism, offering boat owners and visitors an enhanced waterfront experience that blends leisure cruising with fine dining.
Announced by the Dubai Maritime Authority in partnership with Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism, the programme allows yacht owners and charter operators to dock at select marinas and access a curated range of restaurants and hospitality venues along the city’s coastline.
Officials said the move is designed to attract high-net-worth individuals, boost marine leisure traffic, and support Dubai’s broader tourism strategy. “Dock & Dine brings together two of Dubai’s greatest strengths—world-class hospitality and a thriving maritime sector,” said Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Group Chairman of DP World. “This initiative will give visitors more reasons to experience Dubai from the water.”
The emirate already boasts one of the Middle East’s largest marina networks, with hotspots such as Dubai Marina, Jumeirah, and Dubai Harbour catering to an international clientele. The new scheme aims to integrate these facilities with the city’s dining and lifestyle offerings, creating a seamless experience for yacht tourists.
Industry insiders believe the initiative could deliver a significant economic boost. “Yacht tourism is not just about the boats it’s about the ecosystem of restaurants, hotels, and entertainment that surrounds it,” said marine leisure consultant Richard Haines. “Dubai is capitalising on this by connecting its culinary scene directly to the yachting lifestyle.”
Restaurants participating in the programme are expected to benefit from increased footfall, while charter companies anticipate higher demand from tourists seeking bespoke experiences on Dubai’s waters.
The Dock & Dine initiative is also aligned with Dubai’s ambition to attract 25 million visitors annually by 2030 and strengthen its reputation as a luxury tourism destination. Authorities hinted that additional measures such as streamlined licensing for charter operators and expanded marina facilities will follow.
For now, Dubai’s yacht owners and tourists can look forward to a fresh way of enjoying the city’s vibrant waterfront, combining the freedom of the open sea with the emirate’s renowned hospitality.
