Dubai, UAE – His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Deputy Prime Minister, recently reviewed the Dubai Probate Court’s first annual performance report, highlighting its notable achievements since its establishment under Decree No. (25) of 2023.
The report indicates that the court recorded 1,814 estate files, with 68% completed, and issued 1,287 estate inventory certificates. The total appraised value of estates reached over AED 342 million, while claims and judicial committee cases submitted to the court amounted to AED 32.8 billion. Notably, 71% of rulings from the First Instance Division were approved.
Sheikh Maktoum emphasized that the establishment of the Probate Court aligns with the strategic vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to enhance public trust in Dubai’s judicial system. The court aims to provide exceptional judicial services and uphold the rule of law, contributing to social and economic stability.
“The court’s achievements demonstrate our commitment to developing a world-class judicial system,” Sheikh Maktoum stated. “Supporting our judicial framework with advanced technologies is a priority, ensuring transparency and integrity.”
Dr. Saif Ghanem Al Suwaidi, Director General of Dubai Courts, noted that the Probate Court has made significant advancements in providing swift legal solutions for inheritance disputes. He reiterated Dubai’s commitment to transparent and efficient justice.
Judge Mohammed Jassim Al Shamsi, Head of the Probate Court, highlighted the implementation of a smart applications system and a comprehensive training program in collaboration with the Dubai Legal Institute. This initiative aims to enhance the skills of judicial and administrative teams.
The court has also introduced a two-tier litigation system and established a dedicated office to support estate administration, which has improved the overall workflow and case resolution speed.
Professor Abdullah Saif Al-Sabousi, Secretary General of the Dubai Judicial Council, reported that the court effectively managed a high volume of estate claims, employing simplified procedures for efficient dispute resolution.
In its first eleven months, the Probate Court processed 1,814 inheritance cases, with a completion rate of 68%. Additionally, the court achieved a 77% completion rate for guardianship cases involving non-Dubai national minors. The court processed 34,124 smart applications with an impressive average turnaround time of just over five hours.
The Probate Court aims to streamline inheritance-related matters under a single jurisdiction, ultimately promoting efficient and comprehensive justice.
