Ajman Civil Defense Urges Public Compliance with Safety Measures to Prevent Fires and Accidents

In a recent directive, Ajman Civil Defense has emphasized the importance of individuals and families adhering to safety instructions to mitigate the risk of fires and accidents, safeguarding lives, and protecting property. Colonel Raed Obaid Al Zaabi, Director General of the General Administration of Civil Defense in Ajman, underscored the need for strict adherence to safety guidelines, particularly during the winter season.

Colonel Al Zaabi highlighted key precautions, urging the public to prioritize the safety of electrical wires by avoiding overloading connections and ensuring heaters are turned off when not in use or before bedtime. These measures aim to prevent potential fires that could result in damage to both property and lives within homes.

Furthermore, he stressed the significance of regular ventilation to dissipate gases emitted by heaters, cautioning against using heaters for purposes such as drying, lighting incense, or excessive heating. It was emphasized that heaters should automatically cease functioning upon reaching the required temperature, with the maximum temperature set not exceeding 60 degrees Celsius.

Colonel Al Zaabi issued a warning against the constant use of firewood and coal, citing the potential dangers of carbon monoxide emissions. He recommended opting for modern heating devices that meet specifications, providing a safer and more effective alternative in enclosed spaces compared to traditional methods involving firewood and coal.

Additionally, Colonel Al Zaabi advised individuals visiting wild and mountainous areas to adhere to safety instructions. This includes selecting a secure camping site, installing tents in safe and elevated locations, ensuring the availability of a manual fire extinguisher and a first aid kit, and avoiding camping near valley edges and flood streams. These measures are crucial to ensuring the well-being and safety of individuals venturing into outdoor environments.
