Worcester-Owned Racehorse Secures Spot in $12 Million Dubai World Cup

Dubai, UAE – Imperial Emperor, a racehorse owned by Deva Racing, a Worcester-based syndicate, has claimed a landmark victory in the Group 2 Al Maktoum Classic at Meydan Racecourse, securing a £220,000 prize and an invitation to the prestigious $12 million Dubai World Cup on April 5.

The Dubai World Cup, one of the richest and most prestigious horse racing events globally, boasts a total prize fund of $30.5 million, with $7 million awarded to the winner of the Group 1 feature race.

A Triumph for Deva Racing

The victory marks a significant milestone for Imperial Emperor’s ownership group, with the horse now having earned over £450,000 for its 14-member syndicate.

Ryan Tongue, managing director of Deva Racing, reflected on the achievement, describing it as a “dream come true.”

“I bought him for just over £60,000, so we’re all in dreamland. To receive an invitation to one of the world’s most sought-after races is simply incredible,” Tongue said.

Imperial Emperor, trained by Bhupat Seemar, will face elite competitors from around the world, including top thoroughbreds from the UAE, Japan, and the United States.

Road to Racing Glory

The Dubai World Cup, first held in 1996, has become a flagship event in the global horse racing calendar, drawing the best horses, trainers, and owners from across continents.

For Deva Racing, a syndicate that allows smaller investors to share ownership of elite racehorses, Imperial Emperor’s success underscores the potential rewards of syndicate ownership.

As Imperial Emperor prepares to compete on the world’s grandest stage, the team at Deva Racing will be hoping their star horse can continue its remarkable ascent and deliver a historic win in the Dubai World Cup.
