Dubai, UAE — April 2025
Dubai Cares, in collaboration with real estate giant Aldar, has successfully completed the first edition of Volunteer Emirates in 2025, revitalizing the National Charity School for Girls in Dubai. The initiative brought together over 80 dedicated volunteers to transform the school into a more engaging and inspiring space for more than 1,365 students.
The school makeover, part of the School Refurbishment edition of the long-running Volunteer Emirates program, included the installation of new desks, chairs, whiteboards, and storage units, as well as the addition of outdoor wooden seating and protective shading structures. Volunteers also introduced new educational resources, aiming to foster a nurturing environment conducive to both academic achievement and personal growth.
“We believe that a nurturing learning environment is essential for students to thrive,” said Abdulla Ahmed Al Shehhi, Chief Operating Officer at Dubai Cares. “This initiative reflects the goals of the Year of Community, which calls for strengthening the power of collaboration in shaping a brighter future for the next generation.”
The initiative also aligns with Aldar’s commitment to social impact and sustainability.
“At Aldar, we are dedicated to driving positive change within communities across the UAE,” said Salwa Al Maflahi, Group Executive Director of Sustainability and Community Outreach at Aldar. “Supporting education is key to fostering long-term social and economic prosperity.”
The impact of the refurbishment was immediate and heartfelt.
“This initiative has made a world of difference to our students,” said Weam Omar Jabr, Principal of the National Charity School for Girls. “The refreshed environment has boosted their confidence, sparked their curiosity, and motivated them to aim higher. Our girls now feel seen, supported, and empowered.”
