Erzurum, Turkey — A Vistara Airlines flight en route from Mumbai, India, to Frankfurt, Germany, made an emergency landing in Erzurum, eastern Turkey, on Friday after an anonymous bomb threat. The flight, carrying 247 passengers, was diverted following a call that claimed there was an explosive device on board, according to Turkish state broadcaster TRT Haber.
Upon landing safely at Erzurum airport at 7:05 PM local time, authorities immediately evacuated all passengers and crew members. Bomb disposal teams began searching the aircraft for any explosives, while Erzurum’s airspace was temporarily closed to other flights as a precautionary measure.
“Flight UK27 from Mumbai to Frankfurt (BOM-FRA) has been diverted to Turkey (Erzurum airport) due to security reasons and has landed safely at 1905 hours,” Vistara Airlines confirmed in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
Erzurum Governor Musrafa Ciftci informed the state-run Anadolu news agency that bomb disposal experts were on the scene, thoroughly investigating the aircraft. No further details have been provided regarding the nature of the threat or whether any explosives were found.
