Amna Al Qubaisi, the UAE’s trailblazing female F3 driver, is spearheading a groundbreaking campaign called #JJ4All, initiated by the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, to introduce people from all backgrounds in the Middle East to the sport of jiu-jitsu. The campaign aims to showcase the accessibility of the sport, emphasizing that it is open to individuals of all professions and skill levels.
As one of the prominent figures in the campaign, Al Qubaisi, who made history as the first Middle Eastern female to participate in a Formula E test program and compete in the 2019 Formula 3 Asian Championships, hopes to inspire young nationals and motivate them to embrace jiu-jitsu as a pathway to a healthy and fulfilling life.
The “JIU-JITSU FOR ALL” #JJ4All campaign was launched with a powerful video featuring Al Qubaisi, where she brings her winning drive and relentless spirit to the world of jiu-jitsu. The video showcases her practicing alongside Shamma Al Kalbani, a star of the UAE national jiu-jitsu team, demonstrating impressive grappling skills and encouraging others to join them in pursuing the sport.
Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri, Deputy Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation (UAEJJF), expressed the campaign’s objective, stating, “Through the ‘JIU-JITSU FOR ALL’ #JJ4All campaign, we aim to demonstrate that jiu-jitsu is a sport accessible to everyone, regardless of demographics, profession, age, or skill level. Jiu-jitsu is a martial art that focuses on mental acuity and energy efficiency. It is recognized as a valuable investment for maintaining good health, enhancing physical fitness, and acquiring self-defense techniques.”
The campaign will feature a diverse range of participants, including both high-profile individuals and members of the local community, as well as enthusiasts of physical and mental well-being. This initiative aligns with the UAEJJF’s vision to promote a sporting culture, increase the number of jiu-jitsu practitioners domestically and internationally, and attract individuals from various segments of society to embrace the sport. It aims to achieve these objectives by highlighting the competitive advantages of jiu-jitsu and the values it embodies.
Al Qubaisi shared her enthusiasm for the #JJ4All campaign, stating, “When I was approached to be part of the #JJ4All campaign, I was immediately drawn to the idea of inspiring people to lead a healthier and more active lifestyle through jiu-jitsu. As an athlete, I understand the benefits of staying active and the positive impact it can have on overall well-being. I am excited to utilize my platform to encourage the youth of the UAE to pursue this sport, discover their own potential, and promote the values of discipline, respect, and teamwork that jiu-jitsu embodies.”
The UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation is confident that the campaign will be highly successful in further popularizing the sport’s culture, encouraging more individuals to embrace jiu-jitsu as a means to improve their physical and mental health.
