UAE President and Italian PM Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Ties in Rome

UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni held discussions on Monday to enhance cooperation as part of the strategic partnership between the two nations.

The meeting took place at Chigi Palace in Rome, where Meloni welcomed Sheikh Mohamed and his delegation, expressing optimism that the visit would strengthen bilateral ties.

The discussions covered various sectors, including economy, investment, advanced technology, artificial intelligence, renewable energy, and cultural exchange. Both leaders reaffirmed that their strategic partnership serves as a vital framework for furthering their nations’ interests.

Sheikh Mohamed highlighted the long-standing UAE-Italy relations, which date back to the UAE’s founding, and emphasised the $14.1 billion non-oil trade volume between the two nations in 2024, reflecting a 21.2% increase from the previous year. He expressed confidence that continued collaboration would further boost trade and investment.

The UAE’s $40 billion investment in Italy was also discussed, with Sheikh Mohamed expressing hope that it would promote economic growth and prosperity for both countries.

Additionally, the leaders discussed their shared focus on sustainability, renewable energy, artificial intelligence, and cultural collaboration, highlighting efforts to deepen people-to-people connections.

Meloni reiterated Italy’s commitment to expanding cooperation with the UAE to serve mutual interests.

The meeting was attended by senior officials, including Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, along with high-ranking representatives from both countries.
