Ohood bint Khalfan Al Roumi, Minister of State for Government Development and The Future, joined forces with Ahmad Alkhallafi, Managing Director for UAE & Africa at Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) marking the launch of GovTech. This collaborative initiative aims to develop cutting-edge digital solutions tailored to the specific requirements of government entities in the UAE.
The primary goal of GovTech is to enhance government operations and effectively address emerging technological challenges. The initiative plans to involve start-ups and business incubators in the development of innovative solutions for government projects. By leveraging their expertise, GovTech aims to deliver rapid and efficient solutions to meet the evolving needs of government entities.
Under the MoU, HPE Digital Life Garage and its partners will provide support to the UAE government and federal entities by assessing their technology needs and challenges and offering innovative solutions. The initiative will tap into the capabilities, resources, and expertise of tech start-ups and business incubators to contribute to the development of digital solutions for government services and operations.
Al Roumi emphasized that GovTech offers a new platform for collaboration between the UAE government, HPE, and top start-ups in the region. This collaboration aims to create groundbreaking technology-driven government experiences. By providing federal entities with access to locally developed tech solutions, GovTech seeks to enhance the efficiency and performance of government entities, elevate their digital competitiveness, and ensure their preparedness for the future.
Furthermore, the partnership supports the government’s efforts in designing reliable and tested digital products and services within the UAE. It also aims to develop flexible government work models that align with the government’s aspirations and goals of driving performance and delivering world-class government services.
Ahmad Alkhallafi expressed his delight in partnering with the UAE Government to support their progress in government development. He highlighted HPE’s commitment to assisting government organizations across the region in accelerating their digital transformation and technological innovation. Through the GovTech initiative, HPE’s Digital Life Garage will leverage its capabilities to create solutions that are essential for government organizations to tackle technological challenges, enhance efficiency, and expedite their digital transformation journey.
The HPE Digital Life Garage in Dubai is the first of its kind worldwide, focusing on four key elements. The Digital Innovation Exhibition acts as an accelerator and incubator for fostering innovation across various technologies. The Digital Life Lab incubates workshops to generate innovative concepts and transform them into pre-production presentations. The Digital Knowledge Centre translates ideas into tangible outcomes that enrich people’s lives and professional experiences. Lastly, the HPE Global Network provides access to international programs and communities, facilitating collaboration among various institutional ecosystems, researchers, inventors, entrepreneurs, firms, government entities, universities, and service providers, including companies specializing in systems integration.
