Sharjah’s Zayed Military Hospital to Reopen as Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed Hospital with Expanded Services

SHARJAH, UAE — Beginning January 1, 2025, Zayed Military Hospital in Al Batayeh will open its doors to the wider community, as it undergoes a major expansion and is renamed Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed Hospital. This transformation marks a significant step in providing enhanced healthcare services to both military personnel and civilians in the northern regions of the UAE.

The hospital, which will continue to serve UAE military members and their families, will introduce a range of specialized health programs aimed at addressing the unique healthcare needs of the broader community. These initiatives will include educational events, comprehensive health screenings, and personalized care solutions to improve healthcare access and overall well-being.

Dr. Aysha Sultan Aldhaheri, Maj-Gen and Executive Director of the Military Health Executive Directorate in the UAE Ministry of Defence, expressed excitement over the collaboration: “We are pleased with the first-of-its-kind military-civilian health partnership between the Ministry of Defence and M42 that will provide world-class medical services to our military personnel, their families, and the wider community in the northern regions at the Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed Hospital.”

The hospital, now a state-of-the-art, 45,000 square meter facility with 200 beds, is equipped to offer a comprehensive range of healthcare services. These include family and internal medicine, diabetes management, endocrinology, cardiology, neurology, orthopaedics, gastroenterology, and urology, among others. The facility features a multi-specialty outpatient department, six operating rooms, an in-house laboratory and pharmacy, radiology department, emergency care, intensive care unit, and multiple procedure rooms, ensuring it can meet the full continuum of medical needs.

This expansion is expected to improve healthcare delivery for residents in the northern regions, making Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed Hospital a key resource for both military and civilian health services.
