Dubai’s Parkin Company, the largest provider of public parking facilities, has announced a strategic partnership with Skyports Infrastructure, a global leader in vertiport infrastructure development. This collaboration is aimed at managing parking facilities for Dubai’s future air taxi network, which is expected to revolutionize the city’s transportation system.
Under the agreement, Parkin and Skyports will work together to provide parking facilities at vertiport locations, the sites where air taxis will take off and land. Additionally, both companies will explore opportunities to develop new infrastructure across Parkin’s extensive network to support the growth of air taxi services.
A Vision for Advanced Mobility
Parkin CEO Mohamed Abdulla Al Ali expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, highlighting the company’s role in supporting Dubai’s ambitious mobility plans. “This ground-breaking partnership with Skyports is testament to Parkin’s market-leading capabilities and innovation track record. As the largest provider of public parking services in Dubai, we play a critical role in enabling mobility for the emirate. By leveraging our parking network, we can support the expansion of air taxi services while promoting Dubai’s green mobility goals,” Al Ali said.
The collaboration will integrate vertiport infrastructure with Dubai’s existing parking services, enhancing connectivity for both residents and visitors. The partnership also aligns with Dubai’s focus on multimodal transportation and sustainability.
Skyports’ Role in Dubai’s Air Taxi Future
Duncan Walker, CEO of Skyports Infrastructure, emphasized the complementary nature of the partnership. “Our collaboration with Parkin combines our expertise in vertiport infrastructure with Parkin’s extensive network of facilities. This will enable us to expand vertiport infrastructure throughout the city and accelerate the adoption of air taxi services,” Walker said.
Earlier in February 2024, Skyports signed an agreement with Dubai’s Road and Transport Authority (RTA) and Joby Aviation, a manufacturer of all-electric aircraft, to launch passenger air taxi services in the city by 2026. This agreement granted Skyports the exclusive rights to develop and operate vertiports in Dubai.
Supporting Dubai’s Green Mobility and Autonomous Transport Goals
The air taxi project is a key component of Dubai’s Green Mobility Strategy and Smart Autonomous Mobility Strategy 2030. It aims to establish the emirate as the first location with a commercial, city-wide electric air taxi service. The new transport system will offer a sustainable alternative to traditional transportation, significantly reducing traffic congestion and emissions.
Parkin’s long-term agreement with the RTA, which grants the company exclusive rights to operate and manage paid public parking services across Dubai for the next 49 years, underscores its central role in the city’s evolving transportation landscape. The company’s partnership with Skyports further strengthens its commitment to creating a safe, efficient, and high-quality mobility ecosystem.
This joint venture represents a significant step toward achieving Dubai’s vision of an integrated, multimodal, and environmentally friendly transportation network. With air taxis set to take flight in 2026, Dubai is poised to become a global pioneer in advanced air mobility.
