Max Verstappen Eyes Records as Formula 1 Season Concludes in Abu Dhabi

As the current Formula 1 season concludes with the upcoming “Etihad Airways Grand Prix” at Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina Circuit, Dutch driver Max Verstappen aims to further solidify his record-breaking achievements in the final race of the season.

Verstappen and his Red Bull team have left an indelible mark on the season, which witnessed championship events across 5 of the 6 continents through over 20 races. Verstappen’s notable records include winning 18 races this season, marking the highest number of victories by any driver in a single season. The Dutch driver has the opportunity to increase this tally to 19 victories.

Two additional records held by Verstappen are the highest points total by a driver in a single season (currently standing at 549 points) and the most podium finishes in a season (20 times finishing in the top three positions). Verstappen aims to boost these records during the Abu Dhabi race.

After securing victory in the Las Vegas Grand Prix last Sunday, Verstappen equaled German driver Sebastian Vettel’s tally of 53 titles in Formula 1 races, placing them in joint third on the championship’s historical list. With a potential win in the Abu Dhabi race, Verstappen could claim sole possession of third place on the list, trailing only Lewis Hamilton (103 victories) and Michael Schumacher (91 victories).

The “Etihad Airways Grand Prix” marks a significant milestone as the inaugural race of a new century in the championship’s history, labeled as race number 1,101. The event holds historical significance for Verstappen and the teams involved.
