Maritime Rescue Operations Initiated in Suez Canal Following Tugboat Collision

On Saturday, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority, Osama Rabie, reported that maritime rescue operations are currently underway in the Suez Canal after a collision between an LPG tanker named “China Gas Legend” and one of the authority’s tugboats named “Fahd.” The incident took place in the km 51 area of the Al-Balah bypass.

As a result of the collision, the tugboat “Fahd” suffered openings in its hull, leading to water ingress and subsequent sinking. However, it is important to note that the incident did not impact the traffic in the Suez Canal.

In a statement, the Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority clarified that the collision occurred while the “China Gas Legend” was crossing the Suez Canal as part of the southbound convoy on its voyage from Singapore to the United States of America.
