A groundbreaking gathering of 85 international experts representing Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) from 20 countries commenced in Goa, India on Tuesday, highlighting their crucial role in ensuring good governance, transparency, and accountability for the betterment of society.
The Governor of Goa, P S Sreedharan Pillai, inaugurated the event, emphasizing the central role of SAIs in strengthening governance and positively impacting the lives of citizens.
With the participation of five Arab countries, the conclave aims to explore various subjects, including the Blue Economy and Responsible Artificial Intelligence, with the intention of producing compendiums on these topics.
The conclave is organized by the SAI Engagement Group, an initiative established during Indonesia’s G20 Presidency in 2022, recognizing the significance of SAIs in promoting efficiency, accountability, transparency, and the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) outlined by the United Nations.
Girish Chandra Murmu, the Comptroller and Auditor General of India, currently serves as the Chair of this group during India’s G20 presidency.
