The Indian Institute of Technology-Delhi (IIT-Delhi) has introduced a summer training programme of immersive mathematics workshops in Abu Dhabi, designed to strengthen students’ key STEM skills in preparation for university admission exams, including those of IIT-Delhi.
The seasonal workshops kicked off with the Summer Outreach Programme from 18th to 20th July. Over 100 grade 10+ students with a minimum GPA of 75 percent in the last academic year or 80 percent in science and mathematics subjects participated in the programme.
IIT-Delhi professors provided the students with a unique learning experience, covering various fields such as materials, robotics, the human body, principles of design thinking, and drone engineering. The programme included interactive sessions and practical experiments to enhance the students’ understanding of these subjects.
Continuing on 24th July until 12th August, the School Immersion Programme in Mathematics will engage 30 students with the same qualifying criteria in interactive training sessions under the guidance of leading IIT-Delhi professors. The 3-week training programme will offer advanced learning opportunities in mathematics, covering Integral Calculus, Differential equations, probability theory, and matrix theory, among other subjects. This training will prepare the students to take IIT-Delhi Abu Dhabi entrance exams in the future.
Notably, the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) recently signed a memorandum of understanding with IIT-Delhi to establish the first international campus of the institute in Abu Dhabi. Expected to launch academic programmes in early 2024, IIT-Delhi Abu Dhabi will offer bachelor’s, master’s, and Ph.D. programmes. Additionally, IIT-Delhi Abu Dhabi will operate research centres focusing on sustainable energy and climate studies, as well as computing and data sciences.
