Coffee lovers in Whitehaven have a new reason to celebrate as Odal Espresso, the town’s latest independent café, officially opened its doors this week, offering artisan brews, homemade pastries, and a warm community atmosphere.
Nestled near the bustling harbourfront, Odal Espresso aims to blend contemporary coffee culture with Whitehaven’s coastal charm. The café features locally sourced ingredients, a minimalist Scandinavian-inspired interior, and an emphasis on sustainability using compostable cups, ethically traded beans, and offering plant-based options.
“We wanted to create more than just a place to grab a coffee,” said co-owner Sarah Jennings, who launched the café with her partner Tom Reid. “Odal is about slowing down, enjoying the ritual of a good brew, and reconnecting with community.”
The café has already seen a steady stream of visitors since its soft launch, drawing in a mix of remote workers, students, and curious locals. Its menu includes specialty espresso drinks, cold brews, and hand-poured coffees alongside fresh bakes, brunch options, and gluten-free treats.
Local residents have praised the addition, saying Odal brings a much-needed boost to Whitehaven’s growing independent business scene.
Odal Espresso is open seven days a week and also plans to host monthly open-mic nights, barista workshops, and art pop-ups, further anchoring itself as a cultural and social hub for the town.
With its inviting vibe and quality offerings, Odal Espresso looks poised to become a staple of Whitehaven’s café culture.
