Council of Retired Diplomats Holds Inaugural Meeting in Abu Dhabi

The Council of Retired Diplomats convened its first meeting on Thursday in Abu Dhabi, bringing together former ambassadors and retired diplomats. The meeting served as a platform to introduce the council’s objectives and tasks, gather feedback from retired diplomats, and address their queries.

Khalifa Shaheen Almarar, Minister of State, expressed his appreciation to all retired ambassadors and diplomats during his welcoming address. He commended their dedication and contributions throughout their service in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Almarar underscored the significance of establishing the Council of Retired Diplomats as a testament to their outstanding representation of the UAE.

Dr. Saeed Mohammed Al Shamsi, Chairman of the Council of Retired Diplomats, provided an overview of the council, highlighting its goals, responsibilities, and forthcoming agenda.

The agenda included an introduction to the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy. Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim Al Dhaheri, Deputy Director General of the Academy, discussed ways in which the academy could engage former ambassadors and retired diplomats to facilitate the transfer of their expertise and knowledge to the new generation of diplomats.
