The Abu Dhabi Police General Command has issued a call to drivers to prioritize safe driving practices during periods of rain and weather fluctuations.
The advisory emphasizes the importance of steering clear of valleys and areas prone to water accumulation, avoiding proximity to electrical extension lines, open spaces, and trees during rainfall. Drivers are urged to strictly adhere to safety instructions and guidelines to ensure the safety of all road users.
Brigadier Mahmoud Yousef Al Balushi, Director of the Traffic and Patrols Directorate, emphasized the need for disciplined driving, particularly in inclement weather. He cautioned against reckless and careless driving, drifting, risking entry into valleys, and non-compliance with traffic laws.
Al Balushi stressed the importance of responsible driving to preserve roads, private and public property, and to prevent endangering the lives of drivers and others on the road. Encouraging positive driving behaviors, he highlighted the role of responsible driving in reducing traffic accidents, fatalities, and serious injuries.
In rainy conditions, drivers are advised to take precautionary measures for enhanced safety. This includes keeping car windows clean for clear visibility, ensuring the maintenance of front lights to improve visibility, and replacing old tires to prevent slipping.
The Director of the Traffic and Patrols Directorate underscored the significance of maintaining a safe distance from other vehicles, avoiding sudden braking during high speeds, and slowing down gradually when making turns to prevent the car from sliding. Road users are encouraged to pull over safely if they experience impaired vision while driving.
